LabCom User Guide
Introduction
.
WHAT IS LABCOM ?
LabCom is a communication system aimed at maintaining the flow of information between contract analytical laboratories and their customers. The system provides a means for lab and client to share information regarding a sample and its attendant tests.
Laboratories often have LIMS systems (Laboratory Information Managemetn System) these are a class of systems designed to manage laboratory processes. LabCom is a different class of software in that it concentrates on the administration and communication of results to the client rather than the organisation of the lab itself.
HOW LABCOM CONNECTS LAB & CLIENT
The Client
Typically, a client will send a sample to the lab, enter the sample details into LabCom along with the tests required to be performed.
The Lab
Upon receipt of the sample, the Lab uses LabCom to check which tests are required. Once the tests are performed, the lab can enter the results into LabCom making the results immediately available to the client.
LABCOM - KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Both client and lab are able to view and print and up-to-date report of the sample(s) and tests at any time using LabCom's 'Report Viewer'.
LabCom's sophisticated search facility gives the Lab instant access to any client's full test history. Clients also have access to their own test history at any time. Searches can be based on a wide range of criteria and the results viewed and printed as a batch report. |
